Effect of iron and zinc chelate nano fertilizer on glycyrrhizin in licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.)

Abstract
Licorice root has an organic compound called glycyrrhizin and is widely used as a sweetener in the food industry, and many medicinal uses are also made from it. The purpose of this research is the effect of iron and zinc chelate nano fertilizer on the amount of glycyrrhizin in licorice root. Glycyrrhizin content of root and leaf of licorice variety was determined by HPLC. The results of glycyrrhizin measurement showed that nano-fertilizers had a significant effect on the amount of glycyrrhizin (P<0.05). Chromatograms obtained from HPLC show that, except for iron and zinc treatments of 8000 mg/liter, in other treatments, the amount of glycyrrhizin has a significant increase compared to the control sample. The results also show that the highest amount of glycyrrhizin (4.65 mg/g) was obtained in iron treatment of 3000 mg/liter. The amounts of 1000 and 5000 mg/liter of iron and zinc also increased the amount of glycyrrhizin compared to the control. The lowest amount of glycyrrhizin in zinc and iron treatment was 8000 mg/liter with an average value of 3.08 mg/g.
